The Electric War: Edison, Tesla, Westinghouse, and the Race to Light the World This book is very informative Very well written The struggles between Edison and Tesla and the race to be the first and especially the ups and downs of Tesla was very interesting I would recommend this book for any age group. The Spellbinding True Account Of The Scientific Competition To Light The World With ElectricityIn The Mid To Late Nineteenth Century, A Burgeoning Science Called Electricity Promised To Shine New Light On A Rousing Nation Inventive And Ambitious Minds Were Hard At Work Soon That Spark Was Fanned, And A Fiery War Was Under Way To Be The First To Lightand Runthe World With Electricity Thomas Alva Edison, The Inventor Of Direct Current DC , Engaged In A Brutal Battle With Nikola Tesla And George Westinghouse, The Inventors Of Alternating Current AC There Would Be No Ties In This Raceonly A Winner And A Loser The Prize A Nationwide Monopoly In Electric Current Brimming With Action, Suspense, And Rich Historical And Biographical Information About These Brilliant Inventors, Here Is The Rousing Account Of One Of The Worlds Defining Scientific Competitions A Christy Ottaviano Book The book is well written, however, for sensitive kids this will be too gruesome as it goes into detail about the development of the electric chair I decided not to have my nightmare prone kid read it. The Electric WarGreg Tremblay, narratorGreg Tremblay does a tremendous job in keeping my attention The best test for me of an audiobook, other than the story, is if an audiobook narrator s voice continues to hold my attention for a prolonged time Tremblay is definitely not one of the narrators whose words seem to blend together after 20 minutes. When listening to an audiobook, it is important to keep the weak points of the author s writing separate from those of the reader This history of the competition to invent and dominate the development of electricity in the 19th century is a legible, interesting story However, the author has included some troubling details about using electricity for human executions and other animal killing It s tough stuff, so some listeners might want to skip those chapters. This book could have been dry, but I m fascinated with the time period Full disclosure I ve spent much of the past year researching this historic time period while writing a historical adventure novella set in late 1897.I fully enjoyed Tremblay s narration and look forward to hearing other books he reads as audiobooks. I have watched videos of electric wars, did thorough research of edison, tesla and Westinghouse, and I am still learning a bunch of things about the invention and the business This is a good book to teach business students about technology and teach technology students about business.
