Th Anniversary EditionFor Years, The Authorized Version Of The Bible Popularly Known As The King James Version Has Been Beloved For Its Majestic Phrasing And Stately Cadences No Other Book Has So Profoundly Influenced Our Language And Our Theology Over Time, However, The Text Has Suffered Subtle And Occasionally Troublesome Alterations This Edition Preserves The Original Printing Word For Word And Page For Page, The Text With Its Original Marginal Notes, Preface, And Other Introductory Material Appears As It First Did The Sole Concession To Modernity Is A Far Readable Roman Typeface Set By Nineteenth Century Master Printers A Valuable And Essential Addition To Every Bible Library John R Kohlenberger IIIFEATURES Original Preface And Translators Notes Alfred Pollard S Classic Essay On Pre English Translations And The History Of The Authorized Version New Essays On The Enduring Impact Of The KJV And The Apocrypha Handsome Page Design With Decorative Initials Page Edge Gilding And Ribbon Marker Genuine Leather Only Clear Type Is Convenient To Read And Reference Special Logo On Book Spine And Packaging Commemorates The Th Anniversary Includes The Apocrypha Great book only disappointment is that i did not buy the larger size which would have had bigger print and due to size of the print paper you can see text from other side so not very easy to read but filled me and my father with joy as it was a gift so he is using his reading specs This really is a beautiful edition at a very modest price It is printed on tissue thin India paper and is a delicate dleight to handle I am always impressed with the fine qulaity of books from this publisher There is a real joy to be had in reading a facsimile edition of the Bible as it first appeared in this edition in 1611. Nice Bible to add to our Study Bibles Takes a bit of getting used to the olde English Got here quickly and standard packaging I was interested in the Books that were left out of the KJV nice to fill in some blanks. Thank you for this Bible, It will all help in my understanding on our saviour Lord Jesus Christ. I was inspired to buy this by the discovery at home of a single leaf from an original KJV from 1613, and found many good things in these old versions First is oviously the language, about which much has already been written it is incredibly powerful but can catch the modern reader out if reading without a glossary, as some of the words have changed meaning in the last 400 years e.g prevent go before The spelling of the text but not the page headings has been very slightly modernised, but only, as far I can see, in the omission of the long s I have not studied the words in detail yet but I am happy to believe the publisher s contention that the text is a word for word version of the original Second is the annotations at the top of the page to give a general indication of theme at the beginning of chapters to give a very brief sysnopsis of content and the concordances which appear every few verses All this must surely be extremely helpful for study or just for finding particular passages The third aspect is the beauty of the design and typography, but here a word of caution is necessary The book is nicely printed and bound it is on necessarily thin paper partly to maintain the very reasonable price The page headings see above are as the original, but the body text originally in a heavy gothic font has been replaced with a similarly antique looking serif face, so if you were looking for an actual facsimile of the original which would be virually illegible at this size you would be disappointed This last for me is not an issue, given the other advantages listed above, but I have added photos of the original and the same page in this edition for comparison original on left. I am so happy to finally have a copy of the 1611 King James Bible. This Hendrickson copy is superb and is a very good copy of the original The print is clear and readable which is in a different font but is aesthetically pleasing and the print size is small but readable. There is a good introduction which explains the history of the 1611 KJV leading up to the present day.I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the word of the Bible and is interested in obtaining a copy of God s enduring holy scripture.
