Great read can t recommend this enough and this Jesus character has a really interesting story arc The supernatural elements are a bit unbelievable but is overall a good read.

A wonderful and comprehensive Bible printed clearly with a decent size type, large enough than a magnifying glass is unneeded I got this Bible to compare and contrast with a New International version and am pleased to see nothing has been cut or abridged or changed in any manner, the text is favourably larger and clearer compared to my New International version A extended and informative introduction is also included I am an agnostic, and this is paradoxically my reason for studying what is surely

The best translation of the King James Bible, indeed the bible in general I ve ever read The language is rich, complex and takes me back to my Anglican childhood This version contains some excellent reference notes at the back, the paper is of good quality I d give this purchase six stars if I could.

Pages fell out of this book the first time I properly used it too late to return it.

Excellent work. The study and translation notes from the team are invaluable to the scholar studying the bible True to the KJV, the translation and notes offer additional insights into key passages and terms within the bible and the added Apocrypha make this a must have version for any theological scholar.

Read the small print This is a print replica and not properly formatted for Kindle This makes navigation between text and commentary, for example all but unmanageable.

  7. says:

Arguably, one of the greatest works in the English language, written to be read out loud The words, phrases and cadences still resonate.

  8. says:

    As expected

This is a not especially high resolution copy of the original print edition of this book It s listed as a print replica It claims to have a pop out linked table of contents, but I didn t see it It s not a properly formatted e book and this is really a disappointment from a publisher like Oxford, who really should be able to do better It makes it very awkward to navigate through the book essentially you have to use search to find a particular book And that s really unfortunate since this would otherwise be a really great edition of the KJV to own

Very impressed with this edition Everything is well organized and annotated Scholarly essays and notes are well written The approach assumes an intelligent reader, but avoids overly dense analysis Lots of interesting information about the evolution of the Bible as well as the evolution of Judaism and Christianity Very accessible.

  12. says:

Loving the apocrypha that s in it

  13. says:

This is the Bible in its simplest form Not much can be said really It has a lot of answers, but only if you listen properly.
